Musical texture is in tune with music in terms of tempo, melody, and harmony.
2. The differences between types of musical textures
Monophonic a single line of melody
Homophonic- a single line of melody accompanied by chords or other melodies that fill in the chord
Polyphonic two independent melodies happening simultaneously
Heterophonic- a single line of melody with variations of it happening simultaneously
3. Texture clues by sight
Monophonic can only see one line of melody
Homophonic can only see one melodic line with chords underneath or can see two lines of the same rhythm with different pitches
Polyphonic can see multiple different melodic lines
Heterophonic can see multiple similar melodic lines
Song Forms
Step 4

"America" is binary because even though there is a repeat, both phrases are repeated, and the two phrases are different.

"Swing Low Sweet Chariot"
is ternary because the "A" phrase, the chorus, is restated after the "B" phrase to make three phrases.

ABACADAEAFAGA
